For the month of August Bangor will come alive with other 130 events in various events throughout the town.  Discover film and theatre in the Walled Garden, explore the culinary delights around the town and enjoy some folk on a boat cruising along the coastline.  A highlight of mine is back for this year – the Island Picnic – Read about last year’s picnic here.

Mostly outdoor the BFF is bringing cinema classics to all sorts of lovely places over Belfast.  Shakespeare in Crescent Park, Lost Boys Oh Yeah Centre’s Rooftop and Con Air in the Ulster Aviation Society are but a few.  Read more about the Belfast Film Festival here and book tickets here.

ACM16-News-CraftNIAugust Craft Month
Loads of events all over the province including exhibitions, workshops and fairs are taking place in association with Craft NI.  There’s blacksmithing at Hot Milk Forge, lace making at the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum, nautical themed crafts on board the HMS Caroline and pop-up pottery workshops at SpaceCRAFT to get you started!

Belfast Pride
Running from 29th July to 6th August the LGBT festival will bring colour to the streets of Belfast.  Culminating in the Pride Day parade on Saturday 6th August.

eastside arts

EastSide Arts Festival
11 days of 100 events in the east of the city from 10th – 21st.  Music, comedy, movies, theatre, talks, workshops, visual art, exhibitions, poetry, events for the young and old, community events and heritage tours plus over 50 free events.

Féile an Phobail
Festival of the People in the west of the city.  The big tent in Falls Park will host comedy and music events including gigs from Jake O’Kane,  All Saints, the Kooks and Deacon Blue.  There’s comedy, theatre, debate, sport and lots for all the family.

The masses will descend on Boucher Road Playing Fields come 25th and 26th August for 2 nights of festival vibes.  The Red Hot Chili Peppers take the stage on Thursday 25th with special guests fall out boy and headlining on Friday 26th is Avicii with Jess Glynne … “a fantastic highpoint for the Summer of ’16.”
